They run through the wall to Platform 9¾ which takes them onto an old steam train, which eventually arrives at Hogsmeade station (which is actually Goathland station). Goathland Station on the North Yorkshire Moors steam railway also plays its part in many Heartbeat episodes as Aidensfield Station. trains enter the North York Moors national park and its stops (including Goathland) before stopping at Grosmont near Whitby. It is surrounded by beautiful scenery, and has a station on the steam-operated North Yorkshire Moors Railway line. With a steam train already in Goathland railway station this train came through and stopped at the platform whilst I was standing on the overhead footbridge. And we enjoyed a steam train ride on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway to Goathland (Aidensfield) in Heartbeat country. It could be done as a “half walk” by walking one way only to Grosmont and catching a steam train back (or the other way round). At the time it was the early 60s and we had travelled on train to Scarborough, and then on to Goathland. The booklet includes a route map and lots of information about the long disused railway that the walk follows. The magnificent steam trains of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway often stop at Goathland Station.
